After at least a week of rotten sibling rivalry games, and a morning that had me nearly in tears of more of the same.......
We got home from preschool pickup, and the kids played angelically. I finally took Changa upstairs for a nap, because I knew she had to be tired, since we skipped nap yesterday for the Tour of California viewing.
Changa was talking in her crib though, which didn't bode well. I NEEDED her to nap today. Plus I was getting a massage today (at our house), and I needed Changa to be asleep. Miraculously, she conked out at 3pm, after yammering for 45 min. or so.
Meanwhile, Chispa snaked 2 of my 3 hothouse tomatoes and made "soup", which flipped me right out at her. (which made her cry, but I only felt somewhat bad, she knows she isn't supposed to indiscriminately pretend cook with all the food without asking) I did hug her and tell her I was sorry I yelled, but it is not OK to snake food I was planning for dinner without asking! Usually she "cooks" these concoctions, and then won't eat them and tries to pawn them off on us.
Amazingly, she ate both the hothouse tomatoes, and the 2 carrots she peeled, and the broccoli, though she didn't finish all the "broth" she'd salted and peppered. That made me less annoyed, at least it wasn't trashed. Then she entertained herself beautifully, watched Sesame Street while C was here, and ate dinner like she had a hollow leg.
2 huge whole wheat tortilla quesadillas, using FOUR sticks of string cheese, + another corn tortilla, some avocado, and a ton of black beans. And a lot of milk. I couldn't believe it!
Changa woke up and ate a huge dinner too. And.......they played beautifully together until bedtime!!!! It was like a magic spell had been cast.
Do you think the heaven's were just smiling on me saying "clearly you've had enough, time for some sunshine?" Or the kids got that I'd had it? Or just dumb luck? I'll take it!!!!!!!!!!
Thank goodness for reprieve's, huh?
