30 minutes in a battle of wills

30 minutes. That is the Jeopardy answer to "How long will Changa sit on time out in the laundry room before cheerfully taking her amoxicillin for Strep tush like she did the first 2 days." Yes, 30 minutes. Every 2 and then 3 minutes, I set a timer, I'd ask her if she was ready. She said no. Then at 30 minutes, just sitting in there, not screaming, she announced. "I ready take medicine now" Cheerfully chugged it and happily walked out.

We were really hoping this is the end of this particular fun game

I should add it was Mr. H who read the parenting book on this one. He picked up "Setting Limits with your Strong Willed Child", up until now utilized on her sister, and determined we could certainly try time outs with Simone instead of having this huge power play game with her.

AND, I should add, guess how long she sat in time out the next morning?

You ready?

FIVE SECONDS. She opened her mouth and gulped it down happily, after walking from the laundry room after 5 seconds. "I ready take medicine now mama."

Stinker also figured out how to open round door knob handles that day.

So it totally totally worked.

Changa now has FOUR ladybug stickers on her chart, for taking her medicine and not fighting us brushing teeth. "Just like Chispa".
