Chispa had a friend over last Thursday, and given that they are both presently obsessed with imaginary games that involve Mommy and baby bunnies, they were delighted when I served bunny crackers as part of snack. Then they pretended the bunnies were hopping all over the floor. Fun for the cleanup crew. I informed them that any hopping bunnies had to be cleaned up. As they headed off to play, I asked if they had cleaned up the wild bunnies. The friend said "yes", however, Chispa, who's had it drilled into her lately, said "No Mommy, that's a LIE. Why did she lie? We'll clean them up." And they both did. I was SO proud of Chispa, she got a lady bug sticker that night, when we rehashed the day. Chispa had been on a bit of lying streak before, and we've been working very hard on explaining that you are always in less trouble, if you tell the truth. Lying makes anything worse. OK, when you are 5, this is still true 99.9% of the time, never mind white lies about someones ugly outfit, or hideous haircut. Those social subtleties are not happening yet.
Oh, and 10 ladybug stickers on the chart = prize, so Chispa was very pleased. And I was very pleased. Our Strong Willed Child actually absorbed something I said!

hooray for absorption!!!
Man, that's great that you've somehow accessed the labyrinthine mind of a five-year-old. And I'm dying to know what the PRIZE is, and if I can earn one too?
Lol. The prize is whatever Chispa wants to pick out at the store, that's inexpensive. Basically anything that catches her fancy can be it. As long as it's small.
