Chispa and Changa hit summer camp

Chispa and Changa have started camp this week! Usually we've just done the summer session of their preschool, which was perfectly fine for their needs, being little squirts. However, their preschool didn't have a camp this summer, for various logistical reasons, and we were forced to actually PICK a camp. We signed up for a spendy Jewish one run by Chabad, which is Orthodox. For those keeping count at home, this means their counselors have been imported from places where there's lots of Chabad kids, and all wear ankle length skirts. They also probably all have like 10 siblings each, so they are highly excellent with the kids, full of camp song enthusiasm, and seem to be showing the girls a rollicking good time.

Monday was day one. It took me forever Sunday night to assemble all their stuff. Being the former lab scientist I am, I have lab tape and sharpie's, so that's what I used to label it all. For inscrutable reasons, they don't provide any snacks, so I am to pack 3 snacks, plus lunch for each kid. Plus one water bottle and another that's been frozen.

I nearly cried on day one sending them off from 9-3:30pm. Such a long day. It was hard on Mom. Twisted, I know. I was just hoping they were OK...

Both seemed very pleased and happy with their experience. Changa was repeating something on the way home neither Chispa nor I could discern, but turned out to be her bunk cheer! I got to they gym, got several errands done, met up with a visiting friend, and cleared some bills off my desk. Hooray for camp!
