Our first ER visit, 5.5 hrs, poor Changa.

Chispa was all het up and over-amped and manic running around playing with the Q's son C, who was to sleep over, and shut Changa out of the bathroom, slamming her finger in the door, partially SEVERING her middle right finger at the tip. It broke her finger, deeply cut part way through the finger, severed the nail, so it almost came off. They had to take off the nail, stitch underneath, stitch the sides and splint it.

I cried when they put her out to sew it. Watching her little eyes go blank was horrifying. And I started to get faint with all the blood and had to let go of her and sit down and cry while they did it. It was so awful you guys. We survived, and it's all wrapped up, and I just got her poor little peanuty self to bed. At midnight. OMG. Now we have antibiotics and can give Motrin for her.

Mr. H brought Chispa and C home right when we got to the ER. His Mom C just picked up C and took him home, so we wouldn't have bonus fun in the am.

Chispa was pretty upset about it. I hope she learns something from it. I know she didn't mean to, but I always TELL her not to slam doors like that...

I was so happy we'd avoided the ER till now. They were all very nice, and helpful, but uggh. I just ate some dinner (scrambled eggs, cheddar, spinach) need some water and to cool down enough to go to bed. 5:30-11:30pm at the ER.

This is going to alter our whole summer, no swimming for quite a while, and I'm not sure if Changa can go to camp for a bit. I think I'm still rather traumatized myself, but then, I'm running on sleep fumes. I had to work to get the images out of my head to sleep. Being a mother, not for the weak hearted, is it?
