In honor of Earth Day being yesterday, I thought I'd post a random list of my favorite suggestions to help the environment! A lot of you ask me about these things, so here they are in one handy place. I hope it's helpful.
1) CATALOGS Cut down on catalog waste. www.catalogchoice.com will decline any and all catalogs you don't want really easily, FOR YOU! Save the trees!
2) JUNK MAIL The Direct Market Association will help you stop all of this. https://www.dmachoice.org/MPS/proto1.php
3) CREDIT CARD OFFERS (also dangerous for identity theft) http://www.optoutprescreen.com We haven't gotten but one or 2 in 10 years!!!!
4) GROCERY BAGS Reusable bags for your groceries, and other things. (bought anywhere!)

5) PRODUCE BAGS Stop using those throw-away plastic bags just to carry your produce home. I still use them for things that will wilt, but for, say, apples, and bulk grains, and even carrots, these cotton bags are fantastic, and machine washable!!!!

6) CUTE BAG FOR MALL I love this bag for the mall, no more bags there either, but who wants to use a grocery bag? This is so much more fun, to me. And it stays clean, since I never put food that leaks in it. Reisenthel - Mini Maxi Shopper Eden, Long Handle, also www.reusablebags.com , and many other places.

7) STOP USING PLASTIC WATER BOTTLES. Seriously, the things are littering the earth badly. And most of them are filled with tap water. Save money, save the earth. Invest in a cute SIGG bottle or Kleen Kanteen. They have great small ones for kids too. You can find these all over now.
8) DIAPERS If you have a baby, please consider cloth diapering. We used a diaper service. Now that we are almost out, I wash them myself. We generated no extra trash except wipes (which you could do cloth). And there are no pins anymore. It's very easy.
9) NAPKINS Use cloth napkins. So easy to buy, so simple to throw in the laundry. And they don't shred when wet! They actually clean up messes.
10) PAPER TOWELS Don't use paper towels!!!! Why? Why do people use them? Old T-shirts do a much better job, are FREE, and can go straight in with the rest of the laundry.
11) LINE DRY CLOTHES It's so easy to do, and once you get the hang of it, (ha ha) really quick. AND, you won't be heating up your house in the summer!!!
12) CLOTH HANDKERCHIEFS We got the cutest softest ones, that were sewn as diaper wipes, our kids LOVE them, and I swipe them too. http://www.diaperware.com/productpage/wipesandpotion.htm#wipes

Those are my biggest favorites. I'll add on if I think of more. Feel free to post yours. And please, tell me if you try one of my ideas, I'd love to hear how it goes!!!!

I didn't know I could opt out of credit card offers -- that's awesome. I'm doing it now.
As for cloth diapers, this might be a possibility with Baby V, seeing as she only poops on Wednesdays and Sundays. Go figure. Anyway, can you e-mail me the name of the service you used?
