We had our Giant Passover Seder Wednesday with 17 folks (we were short 5 additional folks due to illnesses of various sorts). We pulled it off, and the girls were up seriously late, but had a blast! (Yes, we paid for it today. How do people get their children to two seders successfully? Ours had to be kept home and put to bed tonight.)
During the Passover Seder, there is the idea of Elijah the Prophet, who will be a harbinger of the messianic age, ie the end of war and hate, and whatnot.
A cup of wine is poured for Elijah, and in some houses, an adult will drink it and pretend perhaps Elijah snuck in. And you are supposed to open the front door to invite Elijah in.
As a special surprise, Chispa set up an elaborate plan. She had her Bobo dress up in an OLD dress-up tie in the kids dress-up clothes, and play Elijah. She had him go out, and ring the doorbell at the right time. She made a basket for him with a sign:
then
That was her list of wishes, that she had "Elijah" show.
How. Flipping. Cute. Was that? I had no idea she was planning it! Sometimes that girl just slays me. A memorable seder indeed.
Happy Passover friends and family!
