Thunder and lightning very very frightening! Woof woof.

Thunder and lightning are very very rare here, but we've had quite a bit yesterday and today. Our own resident canine Ruby was apparently shaking like a leaf in the confines of the house, inching closer to Mr. H's feet from her sleeping spot.

On the way home from school, we saw a like-minded dog frantically trying to escape the thunder, racing down the main road. The girls would have nothing but that we should go rescue it.

Back out we went, minus the Camry, with the dog-friendly Subaru Outback. While we did not find the previous dog, we ran into yet another lost thunder-averse dog. We live near an open space preserve, and the ranger's wife was holding the dog by its collar looking nonplussed, not being a dog owner. "Looking for a dog", she asked hopefully? We explained we were on a rescue mission, but we could rescue this one, since we couldn't find the other one.

We housed the sweet doggie for a couple of hours, where she licked the girls, sniffed us, and followed all the commands I tried on her. Clearly she was well-trained, minus the "what to do in a thunderstorm" drill.

Her family was very happy to have her back. Passionate Chispa, however, woke up sobbing at 9:30pm that she missed her new doggie friend. I'm sure Ruby would agree, but I think one dog is enough.

So fyi, clouds, the dogs of the area would respectfully agree we need the rain, but could we please lay off the scary thunder?
