We went to Yosemite with the whole family, my parents, brother A and sister-in-law K, the 4 of us, and my brother E. We were supposed to camp, but the forecast was below freezing, and none of us were prepared to snow camp. By stalking the reservations site like an Ebay psycho on the eve of the cancellation deadline, I managed to procure THREE hotel Yosemite was stunning and lovely in the fall. Our kids were addled being in a hotel room with us, and were up at night a lot. So we were all sleep deprived, but still had a great time. What's not to like about Yosemite? Mr. H was a trooper, and had to schlep Chispa up the Vernal Falls trail. That was ridiculous, she was in the Kelty baby backpack. That also meant I had to CARRY Changa up the trail, which was also ridiculous, but we got to hike, and it was stunningly pretty. Chispa's crotch hurt the next day and she wanted to know why. Ha ha. Could be because almost 5 year olds don't fit in baby backpacks, you think? We ate at the Mountain Room Saturday night, with a 5:45pm reservation, I thought we'd be OK. However, we didn't get fed until 7pm. Chispa and Changa were perilously close to flinging spaghetti at unwitting patrons, so we sucked down our much delayed food and fled to put the kids to bed. I would have given them a piece of my mind on the slowness and asked for a discount if we weren't doing damage control. At least our food was pretty good! I highly recommend Yosemite in fall. Not crowded, gorgeous changing leaves. Really nice. The only thing missing is the waterfalls wered dry since it's before the rains. Happy 60th Mom!
